BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) First Thursday Lecture Series presentation “Why Read Proust” by UAB Distinguished Professor of French William C. Carter, Ph.D., has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at the Spencer Honors House, 1190 10th Ave. S. The lecture, originally scheduled for March 1, was cancelled due to inclement weather.

Carter teaches in the UAB Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures. His book “Proust: A Life” was hailed by The New York Times as a “Notable Book of 2000.” His latest books, published in 2006 are, “Proust in Love,” a vivid and compelling look at the writer Marcel Proust and his lovers, and “The Memoirs of Ernest A. Forssgren: Proust’s Swedish Valet.”
