BIRMINGHAM, AL — University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) junior Brittlynn Hall, 20, of Peachtree City, Georgia, was named Miss UAB 2006 Friday, January 20, during the Miss UAB scholarship pageant at the Alys Stephens Center. She was awarded an $1,800 scholarship. Hall also won the pageant’s community achievement award, earning an additional $200 scholarship. Hall is the daughter of Lynn and Stephanie Hall of Dallas, Texas.
First runner-up was junior Maegan Bailey, 22, a music major at UAB. She was awarded a $750 scholarship. Bailey also earned the pageant’s talent award, earning an additional $200 scholarship prize. She is the daughter of James and Anna Bailey of Oneonta. Second runner-up was sophomore Jennifer Holcomb, 20, a business management major. She was awarded a $650 scholarship. She is the daughter of Herschel and Helen Holcomb of Birmingham.
Third runner-up was senior Megan Castleman, 22, a broadcasting major. She was awarded a $550 scholarship. She is the daughter of Gene and Deborah Castleman of Pleasant Grove. Fourth runner-up was junior Margaret Moseley, 21, a marketing major. She was awarded a $350 scholarship. She is the daughter of Robert and Dina Moseley of Birmingham.
Since 1983, the Miss UAB Scholarship Pageant has been an official preliminary to the Miss Alabama Pageant. Planned and produced by students, the pageant offers young women the opportunity to further educational goals through scholarships and personal growth. Students involved in the pageant gain valuable experience and opportunities to enhance interviewing skills, talent, poise and confidence. The contestants are between the ages of 17 and 24, of good character, have never been married and are full-time UAB students in good academic standing with at least a 2.5 GPA.
