Erica Leonardi of Argo is Miss UAB 2008

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Erica Leonardi, 21, was named Miss UAB 2008 at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Miss UAB pageant, held Oct. 19 at the Alys Stephens Center. Twelve students competed for the honor.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Erica Leonardi, 21, was named Miss UAB 2008 at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Miss UAB pageant, held Oct. 19 at the Alys Stephens Center. Twelve students competed for the honor.

Leonardi is the daughter of Robert and Cristal Leonardi of Argo. Leonardi, a communications major, was awarded an $1,800 scholarship.

First runner-up in the pageant is Jennifer Holcomb, 22, daughter of Ken and Helen Holcomb of Birmingham (35235). Holcomb, a management major, was awarded a $750 scholarship. Holcomb also was honored with the Community Achievement Award as well as the Talent Award, for an additional scholarship prize of $400.

Second runner-up is Carley Lunceford, 19, daughter of Ken and Helen Holcomb of Birmingham (35126). Lunceford, an education major, was awarded a $650 scholarship. Third runner-up is Brittney Denece Mays, 21, daughter of Natalie Neal and James Mays of Verbena. Mays, an English major, was awarded a $550 scholarship. Fourth runner-up is Sarah Elizabeth Duff, 19, daughter of Susan Duff of Vernon. Duff, an early childhood education major, was awarded a $350 scholarship.
