Jeanne Marrazzo, M.D., director of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Division of Infectious Diseases, has been named to the Infectious Diseases Society of America board of directors.
The Infectious Diseases Society of America, the nation’s leading infectious diseases professional society, is made up of more than 11,000 members, including physicians, scientists and public health experts. In her role as board member, Marrazzo will be charged with helping to promote excellence in patient care, education, research, public health and prevention relating to infectious diseases.
“Being named to the board of our field’s leading organization is a tremendous honor and one that I am delighted to be a part of,” Marrazzo said. “I’m looking forward to helping further the field of infectious diseases as it relates to shaping future policies that can have a global impact, supporting continued research that will impact patient care, and working to inspire the next generation of diverse and passionate infectious diseases leaders.”
Marrazzo has previously served on the IDSA Education Committee, was chair of the ABIM Council and ID Specialty Board, and is the immediate past president of the International Society for STD Research.
