Martha Dawson, DNP, assistant professor in the Department of Family, Community and Health Systems in the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing, has been elected to a second term as secretary of the board of directors of the National Black Nurses Association.
Dawson was installed for her second term at the 43rd Annual Education Institute and Conference. She will serve from 2015-2017. In addition to her role as secretary, Dawson also was appointed as the associate editor for the NBNA Newsletter.
The National Black Nurses Association’s mission is to represent and provide a forum for black nurses to advocate for and implement strategies to ensure access to the highest quality of health care for persons of color.
Dawson earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the UAB School of Nursing.
