Sarah Parcak, Ph.D., associate professor of anthropology, has been named to NerdScholar’s inaugural class of “40 Under 40: Professors Who Inspire.” NerdScholar celebrates professors who are cultivating passion in their students and inspiring them to be the world leaders and humanitarians of tomorrow.
Parcak, whose favorite nerd is Cleopatra, is a pioneer in the emerging field of satellite archaeology and an expert in remote sensing, which she uses to identify ancient sites around the world. Parcak, a National Geographic Fellow, works to leverage these emerging technologies in high-profile geographic areas critical to human history and cultural preservation and combat archaeological site looting.
