Bob Centor, M.D., professor of internal medicine and associate dean of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine’s Huntsville Program, has been named chair-elect of the Board of Regents of the American College of Physicians (ACP) for 2013-14. The Board of Regents manages the business and affairs of ACP. It is the main policy-making body of the college.
Centor will assume the position of chair at the conclusion of the annual business meeting at Internal Medicine 2014 in Orlando, Fla.
The ACP is a national organization of internists — physicians who specialize in the prevention, detection and treatment of illnesses in adults. ACP is the largest medical-specialty organization, and the second-largest physician group in the United States. Its membership of 133,000 includes internists, internal medicine subspecialists, medical students, residents and fellows.
