However, there is a lack of discussion on how climate change interacts with maternal and child health, including how it can increase inequalities in these areas.
The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health will host a webinar Thursday, Feb. 16, from 5-6 p.m. to discuss opportunities to bridge the gap between climate change and maternal and child health.
“These silos we have in environmental global health and maternal and child health are both strong movements in research and practice, but not enough bridges exist in between them,” said Meredith Gartin, Ph.D., assistant professor of global health in the UAB Department of Health Policy and Organization. “Closing these gaps can help ensure that we are working toward reducing health equity globally for our most vulnerable groups.”
