Christopher Henrich, Ph.D., has been named the chair of theHenrich joins UAB from Georgia State University, where he was a professor of psychology. His focus there was in research on forms of violence exposure and social support, and their relation to youths’ academic and behavioral adjustment.
Henrich’s career as a researcher, teacher and leader exemplifies UAB’s values, says Kecia M. Thomas, Ph.D., dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
“I am very pleased to welcome Dr. Henrich as the incoming chair of the Department of Psychology,” Thomas said. “He has led a highly productive and interdisciplinary faculty who are frequently engaged in community-based research and outreach.”
Henrich will succeed Sylvie Mrug, Ph.D., who has led the department since 2017.
“I am grateful to Dr. Mrug for her leadership during this period of significant transition for the department,” Thomas said.
Henrich received his Ph.D. from Yale University in 2001 and has written more than 80 publications. He will officially begin his new role as chair in August.
