University of Alabama at Birmingham was awarded the best student presentation at the Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine in Madrid, Spain. The presentation focused on the influence of child, caregiver and context factors on child passenger safety in motor vehicles.
Emma Goodman, Ph.D., a dual degree student at the“I was so honored to be selected for this award, and I feel that it validates the importance of continuing to conduct rigorous research in the area of child safety,” said Goodman. “My hope is to impact the way parents and caregivers travel in vehicles with children and to raise awareness of recommended child passenger safety behaviors.”
Goodman presented part of her dissertation to multidisciplinary professionals from around the world who are dedicated to reducing traffic injury. Goodman, a Birmingham, Alabama, native, graduated with her doctorate in Lifespan Developmental Psychology in August and will complete her master’s in public health in Health Behavior this December from UAB.
