University of Alabama at Birmingham students from seven different programs have been selected as semifinalists in this year’s Fulbright Scholarship competition.
EightOne student, Madison March, has already received a Fulbright U.S. Student Program award to the Netherlands from the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. March will study international crimes, conflict and criminology at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
March is a senior majoring in criminal justice and sociology in UAB’s College of Arts and Sciences. She is also a member the UAB Honors College’s University Honors Program. March previously completed an internship with the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency and studied in the UAE on a William Jefferson Clinton Scholarship.
“We are extremely proud of our semifinalists and excited for Madi to earn a master’s degree that is so perfectly aligned with her academic interests,” said Ashley Floyd Kuntz, Ph.D., director of Honors Administration, Strategic Initiatives and Fellowships. “We are anxiously awaiting word from the other host countries and hope to have more good news to share.”
