Bateman is an associate scientist with UAB's Minority Health & Health Equity Research Center, where she researches health and illness in the context of social structure. Her most current work is examining the impact of the social determinants of health on racial/ethnic health disparities. She is the principal investigator of YES! We can PLAY: A Physical Activity and Nutrition After School Program for 6th Graders awarded by Department of Health & Human Services.
