Up-and-coming R&B artist Khalid will perform a free concert at the University of Alabama at Birmingham at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 22.

Khalid, of El Paso, Texas, burst onto the scene after Kylie Jenner featured his song “Location” in one of her snaps on Snapchat. The song, released in August 2016, has become the rising star’s biggest hit, peaking at No. 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaking at 12 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. He recently released his debut album, “American Teen” on March 3, which peaked at No. 9 on the United States Billboard Charts. His previously released singles, such as “Coaster,” “Saved” and “Let’s Go,” were included in the debut album.
He has performed his hit on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon”; the song has also been covered by several artists and had an official remix, which includes rapper Lil’ Wayne and R&B singer Kehlani.
