The University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of History and the Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society will present a lecture on the archeology of the Dead Sea Scrolls and Qumran, the archeological site where the scrolls were discovered.
The lecture will be given at 7 p.m. Feb. 12, 2015, in the UAB Alumni House, 1301 10th Ave. South. A reception will precede the lecture at 6:30 p.m.
Jodi Magness, Ph.D., Kenan Distinguished Professor for Teaching Excellence in Early Judaism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is an archeologist and the first vice president of the Archaeological Institute of America. She specializes in the archeology of ancient Palestine in the Roman, Byzantine and early Islamic periods. She has published 10 books, including The Archeology of the Holy Land, and dozens of articles.
