University of Alabama at Birmingham Athletics will present a free Blazer Block Party with a Blazer Village and free softball and football games, starting at 3 p.m. Friday, April 18.
The event will open with Blazer Village, to be held between West Campus Field and the UAB Softball Field off University Boulevard on 11th Street South. Guests can enjoy inflatables, face painting and photo booths, and they can purchase food from Cantina and Dreamcakes food trucks. UAB mascot Blaze and the Pep Band, cheerleaders and Golden Girls will perform and meet fans.
At 4 p.m., UAB Blazers Softball will play a doubleheader against Conference USA foe University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Regular concessions will be open for food purchases.
The UAB Football spring game, the first under new coach Bill Clark, will kick off at 6 p.m. on West Campus Field. Guests can purchase food from Cantina food truck. After the game, fans can get autographs from Coach Clark and the players. Admission for both games is free.
