UAB to host 35 teams at annual Health Administration Case Competition

Teams from 35 universities in the United States and Canada will take part in the 8th Annual University of Alabama at Birmingham Health Administration Case Competition on Thursday, Feb. 27. The competition, hosted by the Department of Health Services Administration in the School of Health Professions, will feature more than 200 health administration graduate students from top accredited programs.

“What began eight years ago as a local competition has now grown into an international event,” said Randa Hall, MBA, MSHA, director of the competition. “It gives outstanding students from some of the top programs in the field a chance to put what they have learned into practice with a real-life, real-time case study.”

Each team will develop a plan to solve a real health care scenario and present their recommendations to a panel of national judges. The top three winning teams will receive cash prizes.

Following the competition, the 10th Annual L.R. (Rush) Jordan Distinguished Lecture Series and Awards Dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham – The Wynfrey Hotel. The keynote speaker is Rhonda Scott, chief nursing officer and executive vice president of patient care services at Grady Health System, Atlanta.
