UAB Jazz Ensemble, music student win Jazz Hall of Fame honors

UAB Jazz Ensemble and student Micah Braxton won top honors at the 2012 Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame Student Jazz Band Festival.

uabjazz_hofwin_jpg The UAB Jazz Ensemble recently received the first place award of Band of Distinction April 14 at the 2012 Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame Student Jazz Band Festival. Micah Braxton, a UAB music technology major from Norfolk, Va., won the honor of outstanding soloist for his work on drum set.

The competition included jazz bands from colleges in Alabama and Mississippi.
