The UAB School of Nursing hosted foreign health-care professionals from Zambia and Malawi in November as part of the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs Professional Fellows Program.
The program provides professional development and support to an international field of emerging leaders working in global health, legislative development, climate change, food security and educational initiatives aimed at bolstering employment opportunities in their home countries.
Also participating in the program were the UAB School of Health Professions, UAB School of Medicine and the McWhorter School of Pharmacy at Samford University. This exchange program is supported by grant awards to 16 U.S.-based nonprofit organizations and universities, including the UAB School of Nursing, in partnership with the University of Zambia, the Global AIDS Interfaith Alliance in Malawi, the University of Malawi and the National Institute of Public Administration in Zambia.
