Just by eating breakfast, UAB students can help provide breakfast for others in need in the Birmingham community.
UAB Campus Restaurants are teaming with Kellogg’s in their national “Share Your Bowl” program to help fight hunger. For every bowl of Kellogg’s cereal purchased at the Commons on the Green between Sept. 12 and Oct. 14, 2011, Kellogg’s will donate a bowl of cereal on UAB’s behalf to the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama.
Kellogg’s Tony the Tiger and UAB’s Blaze will kick off the program with a fun event for UAB students, faculty and staff at 8 a.m. Sept. 12 in the Commons on the Green just south of the UAB Recreation Center and Ninth Avenue South. FOX 6 “Good Day Alabama” will promote the event live from UAB.
The Community Food Bank of Central Alabama is a member of Feeding America, a nationwide network of food banks. This food is distributed to non-profit agencies and religious organizations that directly serve the needy through their own programs, including shelters for the homeless, soup kitchens, residential facilities for the elderly and handicapped and shelters for abused women and children.
