UAB will kick off a series of free lectures Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, as part of their Discussion Book Dialogues for the 2011 selection, “Thinking in Pictures: My Life with Autism” by Temple Grandin.
The lecture, “Emotion Recognition in Autism Spectrum Disorders: Do the Eyes Have It?” will be presented by Fred Biasini, Ph.D., research associate professor, and Maria Hopkins, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology in the UAB College of Arts and Sciences.
Free and open to the public, the lecture will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Room 549 in UAB’s Heritage Hall Building, 1401 University Blvd.
Discussion Book Dialogues will take place every third Thursday of the month from September through April 2012. The goal of the dialogues is not to push a particular agenda but to provide information to help people make more informed decisions about relevant issues. Snacks are provided.
