The UAB Department of Music has named Brian Kittredge interim director of choral activities. Kittredge conducts the University Concert Choir and Chamber Singers and assists with courses in music education. For the past two years, Kittredge taught courses in choral conducting at Louisiana State University and conducted the LSU Schola Cantorum in several performances, including a recent performance of Verdi's "Requiem" with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra and Chorus and the LSU A Cappella Choir in 2010. Kittredge previously taught middle and high school in New Orleans, where his choirs appeared in performances at state, regional and international festivals. While in Louisiana, he served as the ACDA Women's Choir Repertoire and Standards Chair. He is an active clinician and guest conductor and has judged choral festivals in Alabama, Louisiana and New York. Kittredge also was on the artistic faculty at the New York State Summer School of the Arts.
Kittredge is currently a doctoral candidate in choral conducting at Louisiana State University, where his major professor was Kenneth Fulton, Ph.D. He earned his master of music degree from the Eastman School of Music in 2004. He is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association and the Music Educators National Conference.
