The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Kecia Thomas, Ph.D., dean of the UAB College of Arts and Sciences, will dive into the topic of “Culture and Climate of Academic Departments and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Organizations” in a virtual conversation on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 1 p.m.
Thomas will be joined by Annice Yarber-Allen, Ph.D., from Columbus State University, and the two will address various actions that can differentially affect women and marginalized individuals and serve as barriers to their career advancement and future success.
The seminar is part of the Alabama ADVANCE Partnership for Achieving Gender Equity in STEM grant ongoing programming activities and is co-sponsored by the University of Alabama in Hunstville. The grant is aimed at increasing the participation and advancement of women in STEM.
