Experience chamber music inspired by art on exhibition and performed from UAB’s Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts on Thursday, March 18.
This iteration of the Chamber Music @ AEIVA series will feature a live video broadcast of the performance from the AEIVA galleries. This is a one-night-only performance with no re-broadcasting. Register for the event online and receive a link before showtime.
For this celebrated free series, hear chamber music thoughtfully curated in response to AEIVA exhibits “Shona McAndrew: Wednesday Night,” “Lucas Blalock in T-e-l-e-p-h-o-n-e” and “Jordan Eagles: CAN YOU SAVE SUPERMAN? II.”
On the program are “Three High Places” by John Luther Adams; String Quartet No. 6, III Variations (on Pachelbel) by George Rochberg; and String Quartet No. 15 in G Major, Op. 161, III Scherzo by Franz Schubert. Performers are Sarah Nordlund Dennis, violin; Pei-Ju Wu, violin; Rene Reder, viola; and Lauren Peacock, cello.
Chamber Music @ AEIVA is co-sponsored by the UAB College of Arts and Sciences’
Department of Music and AEIVA with support from the Music Performance Trust Fund. It was founded in 2015 by adjunct faculty member Laura Usiskin, who also curates each performance.
While in-person and indoor events are limited, the new virtual format allows for an unlimited audience. All approved COVID-19 management protocols currently in use for UAB Department of Music classes — particularly those related to live performance and the mitigation of aerosol spread — have been observed, including masks, face shields, temperature checks, Healthcheck and social distancing. Personnel involved with the management of the performance are UAB staff or faculty and have followed all UAB protocols.
