Run, walk or participate from your couch and support student scholarships at the University of Alabama at Birmingham with the UAB National Alumni Society Scholarship Run, presented by Viva Health.
The UAB National Alumni Society has hosted its annual Scholarship Run each spring since 2007 and has raised nearly $865,000 to help support student scholarships.
Due to the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the 15th annual NAS Scholarship Run will be held virtually, beginning Friday, April 23, through Monday, April 26.
Participants can run anywhere they want — it is your course, so it is up to you. The NAS will still have options for a 5K and 10K, along with a non-running option. The course can be flat, fast, brutal with hills, completed on a treadmill or not at all.
Registration is $30 until March 13; $35 March 14-April 26. Register online. Complete the distance you registered for and log your time through the RunSignUp website. Each participant will get a race T-shirt and a finisher medal. Visit alumni.uab.edu for more information.
This marks the second year of a virtual race. In 2020, the NAS was able to raise more than $55,000 to support student scholarships. The support of its first-ever completely virtual run was a success, thanks to sponsors and the nearly 500 runners from across the country who participated.
The UAB NAS Scholarship Run is presented by Viva Health and sponsored by UAB; additional sponsors are TherapySouth and Liberty Mutual Insurance, along with Quality Correctional Health Care, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, and the UAB Collat School of Business, Honors College, School of Nursing, School of Health Professions and the School of Public Health.
