Join UAB’s Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for a Facebook Live panel discussion on how policing, citizen activism and human rights all play a role during unprecedented times. ’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will host a Facebook live panel discussion on “Policing, Citizen Activism and Human Rights in Times of Distrust” at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 11.
Panelists will discuss the recent killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and other African Americans, explore the challenges of protesting and activism during a pandemic, and share their views on how these recent events will impact our society and community.
Panelists include:
Jeffery Walker, Ph.D., chair of the UAB Department of Criminal Justice.
Myeisha Hutchinson, president of the Woodlawn Community and organizer of the Jefferson County Memorial Project.
Captain Thomas Hanks, Birmingham Police Department.
The panel will be co-moderated by Paulette Patterson Dilworth, Ph.D., vice president for UAB’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and Tina Kempin Reuter, Ph.D., director of the UAB Institute for Human Rights.
