Renata Jaskula-Sztul, Ph.D., and Manabu Nukaya, Ph.D., who recently received grant funding for their research projects.
Congratulations toJaskula-Sztul’s proposal, “Targeting synaptic vesicle 2 with the non-toxic fragment of botulinum neurotoxin type A for neuroendocrine cancer therapy,” was awarded a $60,000 pilot grant by the Center for Clinical and Translational Science Multidisciplinary Network Pilot Program Steering Committee, while Nukaya’s proposal, “Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor Is a Novel Determinant of Chemosensitivity to 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) in Colorectal Cancer,” was awarded a UAB Faculty Development Grant totaling $9,720.
The CCTS and the Department of Surgery will each provide $30,000 of Jaskula-Sztul’s award, while the Office of the Provost and the Department of Surgery will each provide $4,860 of Nukaya’s award.
