UAB Department of Surgery Associate Professor and Vice Chair of Education Brenessa Lindeman, M.D., MEHP, has been selected as a recipient of the prestigious James IV Traveling Fellowship for 2024-2025.
Comprised of a select group of 100 top surgical figures globally, the James IV Association of Surgeons members are chosen based on their international reputation in the field, active engagement, and ability to connect with peers on a global scale.
Recipients are advised to cultivate relationships with fellow association members by working with and learning from contacts in their desired destinations. The two-year travel fellowship enables up to four weeks of travel dedicated to advancing academic research and clinical shadowing.
The James IV Traveling Fellowship recognizes emerging leaders and distinguished surgeons who aim to share expertise and foster connections with peers worldwide, promoting collaboration and communication within the surgical academic community.
”Receiving the James IV Traveling Fellowship is truly an honor. I am excited to meet colleagues and learn from their unique perspectives and approaches to endocrine surgery and surgical education through this experience,” says Lindeman. “I’m looking forward to spending my allotted fellowship time across Europe and South Korea working with extremely talented surgical peers.”
