UAB Division of Breast Surgery Professor Helen Krontiras, M.D., has been named Distinguished Professor of the UAB Department of Surgery.

Krontiras holds multiple positions of leadership at UAB, including: Director of the Division of Breast and Endocrine Surgery, Director of Clinical Affairs for the O'Neal Cancer Service Line, and the UAB Associate Chief Quality Officer for the Cancer Service Line.

Krontiras’ research focuses on breast cancer prevention and risk assessment, disparities in cancer care, and the outcomes of breast cancer treatment. She has secured competitive grants for her research.
