Sabrina Goddard, M.D., Assistant Professor in the Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery is this year’s recipient of the UAB Emergency Medicine Residency’s Faculty Consultant of the Year Award.

Every year, Emergency Medicine residents vote to recognize a non-EM faculty member who has displayed dedication to medical education, bedside teaching, and modeling of professionalism and collegiality.

“Training residents in a high-volume emergency department requires the involvement and dedication of many skilled specialists,” said Charles Khoury, M.D., MSHA, Residency Program Director for the Department of Emergency Medicine. “In an environment that is inherently fast-paced and stressful, it is incredibly appreciated when these specialists also share our commitment to resident education and development.”

Goddard has been a Department of Surgery faculty member since 2022, after completing the Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Fellowship. In November of 2023 she was named the Medical Director for Trauma Surgery. Goddard led UAB Trauma Service Resident Remodel and serves on multiple committees dedicated to quality improvement and education.

“I am deeply honored to receive this award,” Goddard said. “The collaborate learning environment between emergency medicine and trauma surgery at UAB allows us to truly equip residents with the skills and knowledge needed to deliver high-quality multidisciplinary trauma care and improve trauma care across the state of Alabama. We are training some of the best emergency medicine physicians in the nation, and I am proud to be a small part of their journey."
