Melodie Jones has been selected by UAB's Office of Patient Experience and Engagement as one of the 2024 Patient Experience Heroes. Every year, the University acknowledges outstanding team members for their commitment to patient care.
Recipients were recognized based on the following criteria:

About Jones
Jones earned a bachelor's degree in history from Rhode Island College. While studying, she developed an interest in medical records and embarked on her healthcare journey in 2014.
At UAB, Jones began her career as a patient care technician in the Division of Transplantation, where she aided patients with daily activities, conducted EKGs, and performed venipunctures.
Demonstrating excellence in patient care, she then became a patient encounter specialist at the Preoperative Assessment Consultation Treatment Clinic, where she checked in patients for their appointments, obtained cardiac records, and assisted in managing clinic flow to ensure the best experience possible for all clinic guests.
Recognized for her exceptional dedication to patient care, Jones then took on the role of patient services coordinator for the Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery. Throughout her various positions, she has consistently sought out additional courses to further her knowledge in the field and has been actively engaged in providing exceptional patient services.
