The UAB Department of Surgery congratulates Education Vice Chair Brenessa Lindeman, M.D., MEHP, on being selected to serve as the president-elect of the Association for Academic Surgery (AAS).

In addition to her new national leadership role, Lindeman is also the chief for the Section of Endocrine Surgery, program director for the UAB Endocrine Surgery Fellowship, and assistant dean of UAB Graduate Medical Education.

A renowned surgical educator, she conducts research into the development of competency in surgical trainees, learning environment, physician wellness and burnout, learner mistreatment, and resident supervision and autonomy. 

Lindeman is also a member of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons (AAES) and the American Thyroid Association. She serves on national committees for the Association for Surgical Education (ASE), the American Board of Surgery (ABS), and American College of Surgeons (ACS).
