The UAB General Surgery Residency Program commemorated chief residents, alongside supporting faculty and residents across the program, at awards day and a chief resident dinner.
Residents met a challenging training year with continual success and determination, working with surgeons to bring about significant milestones, such as UAB’s 20,000th robotic surgical case. Residents engaged in research, surgical training, clinical care, and leadership with dedication and perseverance.
This year’s chief residents were Samantha J. Baker, M.D., MSHP-Ed (Administrative Chief Resident), Michael F. Gleason, M.D., MSPH (Administrative Chief Resident), Xin Huang, M.D., Kathryn Hudak, M.D., Ahmer Irfan, MBChB, and Lisa Soler, M.D., MPH.
Program leadership recognized several residents with awards for their leadership and performance, and residents presented faculty with awards as well. Below is a complete list of the awards presented.
