Congratulations to UAB Department of Surgery Assistant Professor and Global Surgery Associate Vice Chair Dr. Lily Gutnik for her election to the Association for Academic Surgery (AAS) Global Affairs Committee!

As Associate Vice Chair of Global Surgery, Dr. Gutnik works to encourage global clinical expansion, to extend the global efforts of the UAB Department of Surgery, and to establish global partnerships.

Dr. Gutnik will join the AAS Global Affairs Committee in recommending and implementing programs that enhance the exchange of academic opportunities between the AAS and international surgical organizations.

The committee participates in developing international courses, coordinating international exchange programs, reviewing applications for the AAS Visiting Professorship Awards, and assisting in hosting the AAS’s international guests during the Academic Surgical Congress.
