UAB Division of Breast and Endocrine Surgery Assistant Professor and Global Surgery Associate Vice Chair Lily Gutnik, M.D., was recently accepted into UAB Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) and the Scientific Community of Outcomes Researchers (SCOR) Grand Writing Intensive Cohort (GRIT) for January 2023.
The GRIT program presents scholars with structured weekly activities to enhance their knowledge of grant application steps and procedures.
As a leader in global oncology and health disparities and services research, Dr. Gutnik was appointed to the Sparkman Center for Global Health Scholars Program earlier this year.
She completed her medical degree at the Medical School for International Health—a collaboration between Ben Gurion University in Israel and Columbia University in New York—and holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from Harvard University.
At Harvard University and Brigham and Women’s Hospital Center for Surgery and Public Health, she completed a research fellowship in health service research.
Dr. Gutnik’s interests focus on the impact of breast cancer screening and early detection in low-resource settings.
