UAB Research Resident Katherine McElroy, M.D. was awarded a 2022 Association for Academic Surgery (AAS) Fall Courses Travel Award.

As a recipient, McElroy will attend a variety of curated training sessions in San Diego on October 15 and will receive a year-long AAS membership. The award highlights residents, fellows, or faculty who identify as part of an underrepresented minority group in surgery.

The AAS Fall Courses provides participants with interactive discussion sessions about advances in research methods, academic careers, and grant writing with the guidance of academic surgical leaders and encourages them to widen their network with peers.
