Associate Professor and Director of the Children’s of Alabama Trauma Program Robert Russell, M.D., MPH, was awarded the 2021 American College of Surgeons (ACS)/American Pediatric Surgical Association (APSA) Health Policy Scholarship.

The scholarship covers the registration cost for Russell to attend “Leadership Program in Health Policy and Management,” offered at Brandeis University’s Heller School Jun. 6-12, 2021.

The intensive one-week program equips health leaders with the knowledge and skills essential for creating innovative and sustainable solutions to improve the quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency of health care service delivery as well as participating in health care policy and reform.

“I look forward to learning and developing during this course, which offers a 3,000 foot-view of healthcare and healthcare policies,” said Russell. “As clinicians, it is easy to be case-focused, but sometimes having a wider view allows us to gather more information that ultimately improves our abilities to provide excellent patient care.”
