Department of Surgery Professor Charles Hoopes, M.D., will present at the UAB COVID Forum, End-Stage Heart and Lung Disease in the Era of COVID-19. The virtual event will be held on Mar. 5 from 1-5 p.m. CST.

 As Director of Heart and Lung Transplantation at UAB, Hoopes will present on various effects of COVID-19 on patients’ hearts and lungs during his session, “Extracorporeal Circulatory Support/ECMO: Indications and Outcomes.”

This virtual forum will cover the subject of COVID-19 as it relates specifically to patients with advanced heart/lung disease and/or thoracic transplant. The event has been approved for four CME APA credits. Continuing nursing education credits and American Board of Perfusion Credits have been applied for.
