Dr. Panayotis VardasUAB cardiothoracic surgeon Panayotis Vardas, M.D., was recently appointed as a member of the Career Development Committee for the Eastern Cardiothoracic Surgical Society. The ECTSS aims to enhance the standards of patient care through research and thoracic surgical training programs.

 Vardas’ role on the Career Development Committee provides an opportunity to grow and advance the mission of the ECTSS. According to the ECTSS, this committee is considered extremely important to the Society due to several of the organization’s members and meeting attendees being in training or in the early stages of their career.

The next meeting for the ECTSS will take place Oct. 7-10, 2020, in Manalapan, Florida.
