UAB Professor of SurgeryIrshad H. Chaudry, Ph.D.,was recently awarded honorary membership to the European Shock Society. Chaudry was given this honor in recognition of his service and dedication to the ESS at the ESS Congress in Chania, Greece, Oct. 8-12.

The primary objective of the ESS is to improve the knowledge surrounding pathophysiology and to advance treatment within the shock, trauma and sepsis specialties. The ESS Congress allows academic and clinical scientists from around the world to discuss and present on contemporary and emerging aspects of shock research.

Chaudry also previously received honorary membership to the Society of University Surgeons and the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, as well as honorary professorships at two international universities in China.
