The UAB Department of Surgery will soon gain five new faculty members.

This fall, Kenneth Unger, DPM, FACFAS, will join the Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy as an assistant professor, as Rondi B. Gelbard, M.D., and John B. Holcomb, M.D., FACS, join the Division of Acute Care Surgery as an associate professor and professor, respectively.

Meanwhile, Drew Gunnells, M.D., returns to UAB as an assistant professor in the Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery after graduating from the UAB General Surgery Residency Program in 2018 and completing a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans, Louisiana, this year.

Then, later this season, Robert Sorabella, M.D., will join the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery as an assistant professor. Sorabella recently completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiac surgery at the University of Michigan.
