Dr. Abhishek ParmarThe Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery's Abhisek Parmar, M.D., has received a $60,000 2018 Career Development Award from the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons Research and Career Development Committee and the SAGES Board of Governors. This award was made possible through a grant from the SAGES Education and Research Foundation.

According to the SAGES Research and Career Development Committee, Parmar's project, "Improving Health Literacy with Multimedia Decision Aids: A Pilot Study and Career Development," exemplified the main objective of this award, which was to provide a unique educational opportunity that would not otherwise be available to someone who could be a future SAGES leader.
