The Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery’s Daniel Chu, M.D., has received an appointment as a UAB PCOR K12 Scholar in the UAB K12 in Patient Centered Outcomes Research Career Development Program.

Dr. Daniel ChuThe mission of the K-Scholars program is to prepare independent investigators to pursue careers focused on translating research evidence into practice and to evaluate the benefits and harms of different strategies and interventions on patient outcomes.

Chu said he plans on using the funding provided by the program to explore the role of health literacy in determining surgical outcomes among African-American inflammatory bowel disease patients.
