Mohamed K. Ibrahim, M.D., came to UAB for a one year cardiopulmonary imaging fellowship on July 1, 2023 from Suez Canal University Hospitals in Egypt. He has several published abstracts and poster presentations, some of which have earned certificate of merit, as well as oral presentations in both local and international society meetings. Ibrahim is a member of many national and international societies, such as the Society of Thoracic Radiology, Radiological Society of North America, Egyptian Society of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, European Society of Radiology, and others.

Jubal R. Watts, Jr., M.D., is a medical graduate from the Medical College of Georgia and did his Radiology Residency here at the UAB Department of Radiology in Diagnostic Radiology. At the end of his residency in 2006, he was offered a position here at UAB as a radiologist and was a distinguished member of our department for many years, receiving many Top Ten Teacher Awards, Best Doctors in America Awards, and several rewards both inside UAB and with the ACCP, RSNA, and others. He currently is on staff at the Veterans Administration Hospital here in Birmingham, as well as serving in the UAB Department of Radiology in our Cardiopulmonary Imaging Section and also serves as a specialized, Official “B” Reader for the NIOSH group in the Alabama district. Steven Rothenberg, M.D.

Steven Rothenberg, M.D., is an assistant professor of Diagnostic Radiology and an associate scientist at the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS). He is also adjunct assistant professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Advisor to the University of Maryland Medical Intelligent Imaging (UM2ii) Center.
Dr. Rothenberg received his Bachelors in Physics from the University of Maryland, College Park, and matriculated into medical school at George Washington University through the Early Assurance program. He completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology and Fellowship training in Imaging Informatics at the University of Maryland Medical Center. After his second year of radiology training, he pursued an industry sabbatical and founded EnvoyAI (formerly McCoy Medical Technologies) – the world’s first radiology AI marketplace, which was fully acquired by TeraRecon. After the acquisition he returned to complete residency and joined faculty at Maryland prior to his appointment at UAB Radiology.
Dr. Rothenberg is a serial entrepreneur on a mission to unlock value by connecting key stakeholders to progress novel and impactful technologies to transform healthcare. He is the cofounder and President of Empower Therapeutics, a digital therapeutics company developing brain computer interfaces for pain management. His research interests include non-pharmacologic treatments for chronic pain, imaging informatics, and opportunistic population health screening.
