Mission

Deliver the best patient outcomes, inspire other team members, improve the patient experience, and lower the cost of care delivery through the use of information technology.

Vision

To create the next generation of thought leaders in imaging informatics by empowering fellows to explore, lead, and deliver positive organizational change through the implementation of information technology.

Overview

Informatics is the study, design, and development of information technology to improve the delivery of healthcare services. We believe it is essential for fellows to develop the communication skills and thought processes necessary to solve complex organizational issues by aligning IT goals with the mission, vision, and values of multiple stakeholders across the care continuum. Our curriculum emphasizes communication as well as exploration, investigation, and reasoning.

Structure

Fellows will be provided one day a week of protected informatics time to pursue self-directed, informatics-related academic and educational activities that must be reviewed and approved by the program director. Attendance is expected during protected time for semimonthly meetings that will include Fireside Chats with thought leaders, Journal Clubs, and educational lectures on a variety of informatics topics.

Expectation

Protected time is a privilege not a right. It is earned, not given. Fellows must provide exceptional clinical service and are expected prioritize their clinical responsibilities. If fellows fall behind on clinical duties, then protected time may be revoked. Meetings during clinical days will be discouraged and must be approved by the clinical faculty of the respective service.
