The UAB Pediatric Residency Program is pleased to announce the addition of Chrystal Rutledge, M.D., assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care, as an assistant program director.

Dr. Rutledge currently works closely with residents both as an attending in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and as associate medical director of the Pediatric Simulation Center. She serves as co-director for the UAB Department of Pediatric Residency Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council and has helped develop the Health Equities Scholars Program, which provides selected residents with a longitudinal experience focusing on social determinants of health and systemic barriers that lead to inequities in health care to begin this upcoming academic year.

Additionally, Dr. Rutledge helps lead the Professional Success Team, which offers pediatric residents individualized support, coaching, and other resources on an as-needed basis.
