On Oct. 5, the 2nd year residents had the opportunity to go to the Historic Bethel Baptist Church in Collegeville to learn about the role Birmingham and the church played in the Civil Rights Movement and to gain more insight into the lived experiences of some of their patients and patients’ families.

The visit was led by Pastor Thomas Wilder, pastor of The Historic Bethel Baptist Church, and Dr. Martha Bouyer, executive director of the Historic Bethel Baptist Church Community Restoration Fund.
