Britton Cawthon, M.D., instructor in the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine, earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine in Birmingham, AL. Dr. Cawthon completed her residency in pediatrics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, AL. Her clinical interests include medical education.

Amy MacKay, M.D., MPH, assistant professor in the Division of Neonatology, earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine in Birmingham, AL. Dr. MacKay completed her residency in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in Norfolk, VA. She completed her Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, NC. Her clinical interests include providing family centered evidence-based care. Her research interests include neonatal global health with a focus on resuscitation and leveraging mobile health and technology.
Ariel Carpenter, M.D., assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine, earned her medical degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. Dr. Carpenter completed her residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY. She completed her pediatric hospital medicine fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, AL.
