After losing their twin boys to Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation (CDG), a rare genetic condition, Hannah and Jared Meads sought a way to support others affected by the condition. In memory of their boys, they launched the Meads Miracles Charity Golf Tournament. This foundation aims to advance CDG research and provide resources for families navigating life with this challenging disorder.

The Meads chose to direct the tournament’s proceeds to UAB Pediatrics and Children’s of Alabama Complex Care Team (Teal Team). Grateful for the compassionate care their twins received at these facilities, the family hopes the funds will help drive meaningful advancements in treatment and care for CDG-affected children and their families.

Meads Teal TeamThe 2024 tournament raised an inspiring $60,000 to donate towards the continuous and consistent care of patients and their families. The Meads were celebrated in the Department of Pediatrics with teal cupcakes and the Teal Team!

The Teal Team at UAB Pediatrics/Children’s of Alabama is dedicated to offering patients and families familiarity and dependency during periods of transition and change. For children with complex medical needs, having a multidisciplinary team of physicians in one place is essential. This vital resource would not exist without the generosity of the Meads and the continued support from donors.
