David Kimberlin, M.D., professor in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, has been inducted into the Association of American Physicians (AAP). The AAP is an honorary medical society that recognizes physicians who make outstanding contributions to basic and translational biomedical research.
There are 1,200 active members and 700 emeritus and honorary members of the AAP. The association strives to inspire a wide spectrum of physician-lead research related to medicine and health and to create a community of physician scientists who support the important role that objective science and evidence play in the improvement of patient care and health in America. Other UAB faculty elected to membership in AAp this year include Dr. Alan Tita and Dr. Anidya Dutta.
Dr. Kimberlin has been at UAB since 1996 and is the vice chair for Clinical and Translational Research and co-division director for the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases in the Department of Pediatrics. He holds the Sergio Stagno, M.D., Endowed Chair in Infectious Diseases. Dr. Kimberlin is an expert in the treatment of congenital and perinatal viral infections.
“I greatly appreciate UAB’s support of my nomination for membership in the Association of American Physicians,” said Dr. Kimberlin. “It is a recognition that means a tremendous amount to me.”
Congratulations Dr. Kimberlin!
