Tamera Coyne-Beasley, M.D., has been elected to the board of directors for the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID). Dr. Coyne-Beasley will serve a three-year term from July 2020 to June 2023. As part of her role on the board of directors, Dr. Coyne-Beasley will also serve on the NFID Continuing Professional Education Committee and the Work Group on Strategic Opportunities.
"I hope to be able to contribute towards improving the acceptance and uptake of vaccinations in this country, including a future COVID-19 vaccine, among efforts to decrease health disparities of vaccine-preventable diseases," said Dr. Coyne-Beasley.
The mission of the NFID is to educate the public and healthcare providers about the impact of infectious diseases at all stages of life. Through their education and training, they hope to bring awareness to the burden, causes, prevention diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases.
